It was the house where the last 2 Welsh Catholic Martyrs said Mass before being executed in the late 1600s i.e. Saints David Lewis & Philip Evans. Please Google Gunter Mansion & pick up links including a Crowdfunder Site http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/gunter-mansion-and-its-hidden-17th-c-chapel if you feel moved to help the appeal. It was purchased by Thomas Harris in the 18th century. He was brother to the more famous Howell Harris of Trevecca and Joseph Harris of the Royal Mint. The most famous visitor to the house at that time was Mary Robinson, London stage actress with Garrick, sometime consort of the Prince Regent, and married to the illigitimate son of Thomas Harris.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15401031375076300296noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2953002056576490448.post-82032270504692034532014-04-12T13:11:43.125-07:002014-04-12T13:11:43.125-07:00My records [from Steve Chase, son of Vivian Gunter...My records [from Steve Chase, son of Vivian Gunter Chase and from Luke Gunter] tell that John Gunter was born 09 Feb 1589/90 in Kintbury and died in Virginia abt 1679. Am planning a trip of my own, but want to do some research first. Still trying to find a copy of "The Descent of Tregunter". The biggest question I guess I have for you is: has there been any digs or research done to point to where the original Norman castle owned by the Gunter was located? Would love to research more about Peter Gunter and his son William Gunter.

BillAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2953002056576490448.post-50591957927302656302010-08-19T05:56:33.537-07:002010-08-19T05:56:33.537-07:00It was good to see these images.
